Pregnancy and motherhood usher in a new phase of life and a new way of living. For the first time, everything you do, consume and put on your body effects more than just you. There is more to consider from the food you eat to the products you inhale. So many are left wondering, “What products are safe to use during pregnancy?” For this reason, we have been greatly anticipating The Doula Guild’s affiliation with Willow Moon Farm. Willow Moon Farm makes organic botanical skincare products, herbal remedies, soap, and soy candles with the mission of bringing safe, high-quality products into the home.

Meet Sara Church, Owner of Willow Moon Farm

We are an organic farm located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia in a little town called Gore. I, Sara, do all of the gardening, creating, labeling, shipping, customer service, etc. Each order is truly personal and handmade with love and intention from me to you. I grow the majority of the herbs in my products and what I don’t grow is ethically wildcrafted or purchased certified organic. We currently have 3 German shepherds, a rescued coon hound, honey bees & chickens that reside here on our homestead. We enjoy our days in the garden, hiking our property foraging, jumping in the lake behind our house, and spending quality time with one another. I also enjoy kayaking, beekeeping, meditating, raising my wild one, and basically anything to do with plants.

How was Willow Moon Farm established?

I was raised an organic household but I didn’t follow those guidelines as I got older. I worked an extremely stressful underpaid job and half the time had fast food for lunch. While I was pregnant with my son I became super conscious of my health. I gave my two weeks notice and changed my whole lifestyle. I only ate organic foods, limited my carbohydrate intake, and started working out 5 days a week. I began making organic body scrubs for my family and friends who absolutely loved them!

I decided to offer them to my local community in 2016 at a craft fair. Which then pursued me to continue making natural products but also to learn more about the healing capabilities of plants.  I wondered what else could I create that could benefit my family’s life and others. As I slowly began to grow my business (while figuring out the balance of motherhood) we decided to search for a new home with land. In the process of home searching, we were able to purchase my childhood home which is truly a dream come true! That was when my business became Willow Moon Farm. I am so grateful to live here on 20+ acres and I am able to raise my son on the land. I am back to my roots, have truly found myself through motherhood, and am lucky enough to have found my passion along the way.

I started this business with a purpose- to offer handcrafted botanical goods to my local community + others all over the world, to give others another option than store-bought cosmetics. When you purchase something from me you’re not only supporting a small business but you are also supporting a dream!
